There are many software applications
available today that can be used in a classroom but none quite as
versatile as Microsoft Excel. This software program is used to create
spreadsheets and graphs and it adds value to a vast number of projects and
activities for both the teacher and students.
For a teacher, Excel makes it easy
to use formulas which make tracking a student’s progress invaluable. Excel
can calculate a class’ average and a single student’s average all in one
worksheet. A teacher can also chart assignments and classroom projects
with Excel.
For a student, MS Excel
can accommodate any skill level. For example, an elementary student can
use Excel to create a simple graph or pie chart. Or, a high school student
might use Excel in a Business Management class to set up a mock expense
report, or in Home Economics to create a mock home monthly expense
report.
